The recent price reduction on Possumwood, the spare Southern Highlands retreat of Crown Resorts boss John Alexander, has yielded a buyer.

It took a year to sell, but was snapped up within weeks after Alexander and his photographer wife Alice dropped the price guidance to around $2.1 million.

The two hectare Robertson property with gardens by Myles Baldwin had initial $2.75 million hopes.

Alexander will base himself at his nearby imposing estate after the $8 million plus sale of his three bedroom Del Rio penthouse in Elizabeth Bay.

The couple had owned Possumwood since 2006 when they paid $2 million.

Offering views over the Morton National Park, the home comes with five bedrooms, two bathrooms and a steam room.
