Cronulla Sharks director Craig Airey and his wife Janelle exchanged on an off the plan three-bedroom apartment in Opera Residences last weekend.

It's west-facing, with views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

They paid $7.7 million for the apartment in the $500 million Macquarie Street sell-out.

The penthouses in the same block fetched $26 million and $27 million apiece.

The building is being developed by a joint venture of China-based developers Macrolink and Landream.

Construction will start in April with completion due in December 2019.

It has been designed by Tzannes Architects in collaboration with Crone Partners.
