Cricketer Nathan Lyon secures just above expectation

The Aussie cricketer Nathan Lyon secured $2.07 million when his Oyster Bay battleaxe property sold at auction yesterday.

The Test veteran who has been touring Sri Lanka, Nathan Lyon, becoming the only Australian finger spinner to claim 200 Test wickets. 

Lyon and wife Meg paid $1.4 million for the home in 2014 and renovated the riverfront home.

The family home on 1220 sqm has four bedrooms and two bathrooms spread over its two levels.

A lower level rumpus room flows onto the outdoor alfresco entertaining area which is accompanied by a landscaped yard and large fire pit.

McGrath Sutherland Shire agents Matthew Johnston and Jill Yankos had set a price guide of between $1.95 million and $2.05 million for its auction.

The opening bid was $1.85 million, just as a gust of wind blew the contract paperwork around the house at the indoor onsite auction.

There were just the two bidders.
