There's presumably only one home in the world that has 37 Christmas trees.

Some 30 are real, with seven not so, including one highlighting recycling possibilities. They are in the public rooms of the White House. The main tree came from Colorado this year.

It's been reported there were 37 million sales of fresh Christmas trees in the United States in 1991, which had fallen to 22 million in 2002.

More up-to-date data isn't available, but the market share of artificial trees has reportedly increased by 655% between 1965 and 2008.

The issue of taxing the Christmas trees industry is something of a political sideshow at the moment as reported by a fresh talk blog on thepacker.com.
