Catholic Healthcare has paid $28.5 million for the Maroubra Beach RSL bowling club site.

It was sold by the Maroubra RSL sub-branch after the lease of the current tenant expired.

Maroubra sub-branch president Colin Flatters said there were 40 offers and 250 inquiries for the 10,850 square metre site from residential developers, education businesses and aged care providers.

But JLL told Fairfax Media given the site was not zoned for apartment development, it ultimately fell to an aged care organisation.
