The Camberwell trophy home Ailu has been listed for sale.

The mid 1880s built home in the Tara Estate held the suburb record for four years, after selling under the hammer for $6.8 million in 2014.

It was topped in 2018 when a modern Christowel Street home sold for $9 million.

The landmark Italianate, slate roofed Victorian home had belonged to the Jolly family, who had owned it since the mid-1930s when it was known as Toowomba.

Ailu retains a number of its period features, including an iron lacework verandah and high ceilings with roses and ornate cornices.

There are six bedrooms and three bathrooms, a formal sitting room and a contemporary family room with conservatory.

French doors open from one side to an outdoor dining area and the solar heated pool, and the otherside to a leafy courtyard.

A staircase leads up the tower, past two bedrooms to an upper terrace with 360 degree views across the Melbourne skyline.

Marshall White Booroondara agents James Tostevin and Duane Wolowiec have a $7.6 million and $8.1 million guide.
