A charming Victorian home in Brunswick sold at weekend auction.

The double storey 222 Barkly Street property fetched $2.5 million under the hammer.

It last sold at $83,500 in 1981.

Jellis Craig selling agent Lisa Roberts said the five bedroom house drew just the two bidders, both young families.

A local Brunswick family secured the house, with 266 square metres living space, according to the Herald Sun.

Roberts said they were keen on its position in the Princes Hill High School zone, where the home’s previous owners of 35 years had also sent their children.
