Bronte House's new tenants are locals

Waverley Council has chosen local Waverley residents, Wes and Anna van der Gardner and family as the new tenants of Bronte House for a five year lease period.

Mayor of Waverley, Cr Sally Betts said Waverley was "so privileged to own this extraordinary 1845 property with beautiful heritage gardens...it needs a very special tenant and we’re delighted to be welcoming the van der Gardner family to this special place.”

Wes and Anna van der Gardner have two young children.

They and have experience and expertise in restoring heritage buildings, landscape design and interior design.

“We have loved Bronte House for as long as we can remember," the van der Gardner's said.

“Having previously run frequent garden open days at our family heritage property, we are very much looking forward to welcoming the community to Bronte House.”

The van der Gardner's will be partnering with council in providing open days to the public at least six times per year, the up-keep of the property and its grounds.

Council expects the van der Gardners will be taking up residence in October.

Wes van der Gardner is general manager development at the Roche Group. He had town planning background.

During the tender process Waverley Council was represented by Alex Hart at Hart Real Estate.
