The Benalla district estate of the late Victorian cattleman and industry leader Mike Burston has been listed for sale by his widow Lois.

The property, East Mt Ada, spans 610 hectares of mixed farmland split into 22 separate titles and sits in the heart of Broken River Valley.

In recent years the property has been the home of the East Mt Ada Merino stud. There's a hayshed, machinery shed, stockyards, a shearing shed and stables.

A 1960s architecturally designed homestead with four bedrooms sits on the parcel.

Ruralco Property Hume agents Luke Marple and Brett Neilson are marketing the property for an October 6 auction.

Burston received an OAM last year for his services to the industry. He was a member of the Cattle Council of Australia for seven years.
