Aveley, with rare Arbutus unedo tree, sells at Tylden
Aveley, one of the Macedon Ranges' landmark homesteads, has been sold for the first time in 28 years.
Originally built as a Cobb & Co station in the halcyon gold rush era it now sits on 28 acres in the farming district of Tylden.
The classic Victorian façade with a return verandah on bluestone foundations fetched $1,746,000 through Jellis Craig.
Inside there's exceptional internal proportions including a grand entry hall, 14 foot ceilings, marble fire surrounds and rich period detail.
The gardens have mature European trees including Oaks, Ash and a rare Arbutus unedo (Irish Strawberry tree).
An 11 ha authentic farm setting is supported by a cluster of farm buildings which offer options as stables, work shop or additional accommodation.
There are cattle yards, crush and 5 paddocks at the 290 Central Road address.
"Aveley, is undoubtedly a once in a lifetime proposition," said agent Tom May's marketing.
It last sold at $320,000 in 1988.
