Author Derek Hansen lists Avalon waterfront
The celebrated international novelist Derek Hansen and wife Carole are selling their long held Avalon home.
They've owned the home for 25 years, having paid $910,000 in 1991.
The original 1960s three bedroom home was refurbished later by Alex Popov.
It enjoys commanding Pittwater views and direct beach access to Paradise Beach.
The block comes with an inclinator which leads to a boathouse, cradle and slipway, as well as a shared deep water jetty and pontoon.
The boathouse offers self-contained accommodation and there's also self-contained one bedroom apartment on the street side.
The Raine & Horne price guidance for the November 6 auction is $4 million to $4.4 million.
Derek has written numerous novels with embossed covers while living at the address, including his Lunch with ... series, including the likes of Dead Fishy, Something Fishy, Sole Survivor, Blockade and a Perfect Couple to name a few.
The then advertising man published his first novel, Lunch with the Generals, in 1993.
Hansen, who was a creative director of Mojo, took a year off to write the novel because he was fed up with reading books and going to the movies, expecting to be entertained, but instead feeling cheated because he couldn't believe in the story.
Carole is a former Mosman retailer who specialised in art deco china, especially Clarice Cliff. In 1995, she co-wrote Tea And Sympathy with her husband.
