The author Denise Leith has listed her Bilgola home on Sydney's northern beaches.

The bushland hillside home has been listed through James Baker from Raine & Horne Palm Beach/Avalon.

More than $3 million being sought.

The Walter Barda-designed home, Istana, has been scheduled for 1 March auction.

The five bedroom house was built by the master craftsmen of Cre8ive Building Project with bespoke features including recycled tallowwood floorboards; sandstone fireplace; even an 1800's convent servery.

The block cost $890,000 in 2009.

Leith's novel, What Remains, was the fictional tale of a female journalist thrust into some of the world's worst war zones.
