The Art House, the Vaucluse home of art consultant Barta Partners director Bambi Blumberg and banker husband Derek, has sold before its scheduled weekend auction.

Laing + Simmons Double Bay agent D'Leanne Lewis had $6.8 million hopes for the home that has been their residence for over two decades.

They paid $910,000 for the two level Serpentine Parade mansion in 1995.

Designed by David Phillips, the contemporary five bedroom home has formal and informal living areas spilling onto covered terraces and entertaining areas which overlooks a level garden with pool.

Bambi is a director of art insurer Barta and Partners, while Derek is an ex-Westpac banker and Hutchison Telecommunications executive.

Their son, rising soccer star Ryan Blumberg, is attracting interest from some of Europe's top clubs after being selected to join the Nike Academy after a trial in France last year.
