Architect Wayne Gillespie's first home design hits the market

A South Yarra home credited as the first design by the late Melbourne architect Wayne Gillespie has hit the market.

The 1970s home, dubbed The Squash Court, has been renovated since it last traded for $1.62 million in 2011 when it was sold by Latina Pasta co-founder Fraser Hopkins, who had paid $108,560 from the Palm Beach-based Barbara Robertson.

Gillespie's signature touches are still prevalent in the Cunningham Street home.

Floor to ceiling glass opens from the dining room to the rear garden, allowing for the maximisation of light.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms, each with their own ensuite, and a home office.

Kay & Burton South Yarra agents Nicole Gleeson and Mark McKenzie are seeking $2,675,000.

The 1972 build was Gillespie’s first independent project and his own home.
