The popular Sunday night television show, A Place to Call Home will have a second season.

The Channel 7 drama has averaged around 1.2 million viewers nationally per episode since its April premiere.

It stars Noni Hazlehurst, who plays the matriarch Elizabeth and Marta Dusseldorp, who plays Sarah Adams in the 1950s period epic.

Preproduction on season two is already under way.

A Place to Call Home is the brainchild of Packed to the Rafters and Winners and Losers creator Bevan Lee.

Camelot, the grandest house near Camden on Sydney's outskirts, was the location for much of the filming.

Set among rolling green pastures with well-established cottage-style gardens, and a winding, tree-lined drive from gates originally from Yaralla, Concord, the historic Narellan mansion was built in 1888 for the White pastoralist family.

The 55-room fairytale-like, Camelot (pictured below) and its gardens have clearly been stunningly restored by the owners, Brendan and Rachel Powers.
