Toorak mansion sells for $17 million

A five-bedroom Toorak mansion designed and owned by commercial architect Theodore Berman, who died last month, has been sold for more than $17 million.

The price of the single-level home on 2221 square metres at 1 Heymount Close marks a slight premium to the neighbouring property on 2322sq m that sold in March for $16.7 million. 

The buyer was a local, selling agent Rodney Morley said though demand from Asian buyers was also strong.

Berman was a commercial architect who designed many of the country's Parkroyal hotels.
