Former Federal treasurer Joe Hockey lists Atherton Tablelands farm

The former Federal treasurer Joe Hockey has an offer for his 90 hectare farm in the Atherton Tablelands.

He quietly listed the farm in April last year for $1.55 million, with the marketing by Elders agent Susan Bucknell suggesting the owners were looking for a quick sale.

It's taken over a year, and it is not the first time the listing has been under offer, so here's hoping the offer turns into a signed contract.

Spread over three titles in Malanda, the farm was bought by Hockey and his wife, investment banker Melissa Babbage for $625,000 in 2003.

Surrounded by established gardens, the estate comes with a renovated, two bedroom, single bathroom Queenslander.

The couple have an investment portfolio of four properties across Queensland, NSW and the ACT.

Last year Hockey sold off a seperate 41 hectare farm in Malinda for $600,000 which he bought for $520,000 in 2010. Their Forrest, Canberra bolthole recently fetched $1.151 million.

The Hockey's retain a house in Sydney’s Hunters Hill, which was bought for over $3.5 million more than a decade ago. They also own a six-bedroom house in the coastal village of Stanwell Park in Wollongong in NSW, which was purchased for $782,500 in 2002.
