The injured Australian cricket captain Michael Clarke has reduced the price expectations on his Lilli Pilli house, having missed Sydney's property market resurgence.

There was $2.7 million plus price guidance for its August McGrath auction - which is less than his 2006 purchase price of $2.87 million.

The pricing came despite its post-2006 renovation.

Back in 2009, Clarke thought of quitting the Sutherland Shire but failed to achieve his then $3.4 million hopes.

Now, some two months after auction, there are $2.4 million plus expectations for the contemporary five-bedroom, four-bathroom split-level house that comes with pool, spa and boat shed on its 1,670 square metre bushland riverfront block.

Earlier this year Clarke and wife, Kyly spent $8.3 million in Vaucluse.

Clarke is currently in a race to prove his fitness for the upcoming test series against India, having succumbed to his third hamstring injury this year.
