The Fitzroy North pad of chef George Calombaris (pictured above) has been sold for $1.45 million.

Its sale comes to fund the Masterchef judge's recent Toorak upgrade to a $4.75 million French Provincial family residence (pictured below) with picture book windows overlooking Paul Bangay gardens.

The five bedroom Toorak home was marketed as an entertaining gem, with other notable features including lap pool, five car garage, lift, and gym/cinema room.

The Rae Street, Fitzroy North residence centrepiece was the stunning kitchen, boasting a full suite of Miele appliances, Eurocave wine fridge and granite and marble benchtops.

The kitchen opened to an expansive living/dining zone with striking custom built cabinetry. All renovated and extended by architect Mills Gorman.

There is also a bluestone-paved courtyard with fully-fitted outdoor kitchen with wood oven, Japanese charcoal grill on the 175 square metre holding.

It was listed for sale through Nelson Alexander agent Arch Staver who was quoting $1.32 million.

It cost $740,000 in 2009 with the single-fronted terrace at 435 Rae Street facade kept, but the rest gutted.

The two bedroom property was rented out for the past year for around $800 a week.

Mills Gorman has also worked on many of his restaurants, the newest being the joint venture with Manu Feildel, named Le Grand Cirque in South Yarra site that was MamaBaba.

The Masterchef judge George Calombaris moved to Toorak in 2012 when $2.735 million was spent for a 1930s four-bedroom house bought by marketing executive Natalie Tricarico, Calombaris' fiancee and the mother of their baby son, James George.

But the 960-square-metre property on Grange Road (pictured below), was sold earlier this year at $2.8 million through Kay & Burton agent Ross Savas.

"Perfect for the home or entertainer the elegant kitchen, complete with Smeg and Miele appliances, overlooks two versatile dining areas and an impressive sunlit deck," it was marketed.
