$20 million Sylvania trophy home listing
The Sylvania trophy Palazzo Georges, home to flamboyant rag trader George Georges and his wife Cathy has been listed with $20 million hopes.
Occupying three lots totalling over 1400 sqm on the Georges River, the mansion has 15 rooms, five bedrooms, an internal elevator, home cinema, customised wet bar and a home office.
The circular dining room even rotates.
Outside on the waterfront there's a private deepwater jetty, three pontoons and boathouses which can be seen from the wide outdoor entertainment terraces and swimming pool.
The former home on the site was owned by furniture retailer Keith Lord and his wife Jean in the 1960s, and then the late Formula One champion Sir Jack Brabham in the 1970s.
The Georges's bought the three lots in 2002 for a then suburb record $4.3 million and built the opulent mansion designed by Chris Tsioulos, of CMT Architects.
It is listed through Sotheby’s inconjunction with DJW Property’s Dave Watkins.
The shire’s house record was set two years ago at $8.5 million when hotelier Geoff Redmond sold his waterfront home in Caringbah South to Adam Yu.
The median price for houses in Sylvania is $1,210,000, according to CoreLogic RP Data.
