Braeside, a Queen Anne Federation home in Waratah has been listed with $1.4 million hopes.

The home is marketed by Mark Kentwell and Joel Soldado of PRD Newcastle/Lake Macquarie as one of Newcastle's longest surviving examples of Queen Anne Federation architecture.

Designed by local architect Frederick Menkens, the 1895 home was built for spirit merchant Joseph Wood and has only been held by three families.

Set on 2611 sqm, the home is surrounded by gardens and met by a circular driveway, once used for horse drawn carriages.

The four bedroom home is virtually untouched and the façade represents it's grandeur with a traditional brick chimney, Dutch gable and encircling verandah.

The property at 37 Lorna Street is on offer for the first time since 1958.
