The disruptive insurer Youi plans to build its new head office and call centre on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The new $80 million Sippy Downs facilities will replace the general insurer's leased premises 10 kilometres away in Birtinya.

Sippy Downs is home to the University of the Sunshine Coast.

Modest financial incentives were offered to Youi to locate its headquarters, according to the Mayor Mark Jamieson, who said it was the largest non-government related investment in Sunshine Coast's history.

Youi was launched in 2008 by its South African parent company, Rand Merchant Holdings Group.
