Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific has bought Peppers Airlie Beach on the Whitsunday Coast.

The hotel, which was expected to sell between $15 and $20 million, will be re-branded Club Wyndham Airlie Beach Whitsundays and will be available for almost 60,000 Club Wyndham time-share owners.

As part of the acquisition, Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific will also own and operate the on-site food and beverage and conferencing facilities.

Wyndham will take control of 59 of the 106 strata apartments. The rest are held in private ownership.

Barry Robinson, president and managing director, international operations at Wyndham Vacation Clubs, said "we are excited to secure this deal as we are committed to growing our presence in regional Australia and this acquisition is in line with that strategic intent.

The Club Wyndham Air Beach features an open-air restaurant and bar, infinity pool and spa, gym, conference facilities and undercover parking.

CBRE Hotels agents Wayne Bunz, Hayley Manvell and Paul Fraser secured the sale.

The four and a half star hotel, opened in 2009, has been operated by Accor under the Peppers brand.

Josh Thompson’s Latitude Development Group built the resort for about $80 million.
