The top 10 most affordable capital city suburbs for units: RP Data

RP Data has collated median unit values across Australia for December 2013 to bring us the 10 most affordable capital city suburbs for units.

As expected, South Australia, Tasmania and Queensland come out on top.

1. Elizabeth Vale, South Australia.
   
   Median unit value: $143,425. 45.9% of homes in Elizabeth Vale are owner occupied, according to ABS data. Elizabeth Vale is a northern suburb of Adelaide. 
   
   
2. Elizabeth North, South Australia.
   
   Median unit value: $159, 348. Five minute's drive north of Elizabeth Vale, the suburb was established by the South Australian Housing Trust in 1955. 43.4% of homes in Elizabeth North were owner-occupied.

3. Logan Central, Queensland.
   
   Median unit value: $171,459. The CBD of Logan City, Logan Central showed 10% population growth between 2006 and 2011.
   
   
4. Woodridge, Queensland.
   
   Median unit value: $182, 648. Also located in Logan, 39.4% of homes in Woodridge are owner occupied.
   
   
5. New Norfolk, Tasmania.
   
   Median unit value: $183, 601. New Norfolk is located on Tasmania's Derwent River, with the majority of households primarily made up of couples with children.

6. Salisbury, South Australia.
   
   Median value: $183,970. A northern suburb of Adelaide, Salisbury has a population of 7,551 according to the 2011 census.
   
   
7. Berriedale, Tasmania.
   
   Median value: $184,217. Berriedale, in Hobart's north, is bisected by the Brooker Highway.
   
   
8. Beenleigh, Queensland. 
   
   Median value: $186,159. Another Logan suburb, Beenleigh is located 34 kilometres south of the Brisbane CBD.

   Median value: $186,619. The fourth Logan suburb on the list, Slacks Creek had a population pf 10,418 in 2011.

    Median value: $188,262. A short trip up from Salisbury, sixth on the list, will bump prices up by roughly $4,000, according to RPData.
