The City of Greater Geelong unveils plans for new central administrative office
The City of Greater Geelong has unveiled the design for the city’s new central administrative office.
Located at 137 Mercer Street it was designed by Cox Architecture.
The City’s new office will bring together City staff from seven central Geelong offices.
Construction is expected to begin on the City’s Civic Precinct mid-2020, with project completion mid-2022.
The City and property fund manager and developer Quintessential Equity are partnering in the $200 million investment, with construction of the new Civic Precinct to reportedly create nearly 900 local jobs.
An estimated 43% of construction costs will be sourced locally.
48% of the site will be dedicated to accessible public space as well as co-working spaces and retail and food tenancies.
"Our new Civic Precinct sets an exemplary standard for future office buildings in Geelong through the highest standards of sustainable design, activating street frontages and generating significant public space, and providing large, flexible floorplates designed for new ways of working," said Cr Bruce Harwood, the Mayor of Greater Geelong City.
The new office is also expected to achieve the highest standards of sustainable design with a 6 Star Green Star Design, and As-Built Rating as well as a 6 Star NABERS Energy Rating.
