Tasmanian Italianate treasure Claremont House hits the market
Joel Van Sanden has listed Claremont House, just north of Hobart.
Since the Italianate mansion was bought in 2007, it has cost an estimated $2 million to return it to its former glory.
There is only one small room left that needs attention out of the 33 rooms.
The main house offers 10 bedrooms and eight bathrooms while a 1916-built cottage is a three-bedroom single-bathroom space.
It comes now with an established restaurant, a thriving accommodation business with 10 rooms, plus there is a 24/7 liquor license for consumption on the premises.
While Joel can see someone wanting to buy Claremont House and turn it back into a grand private residence, he told the Hobart Mercury that would be a shame.
“Part of the joy of living here has been sharing it with people,” he said.
It has been listed through Nest Property agent Cam Rogers
Located at 12 Lady Clark Avenue, Claremont comes with an approved plan for a 20 room extension to the original home.
The house size is 1640 square metres, while the land area is 1.97 hecatres.
