The Sydney Antique Centre, at 517-543 South Dowling Street, Surry Hills, has been sold. It is Australia's oldest, and one of the largest, antique centres with over 50 antiques and art dealers.

Property Observer gleans it fetched about $9.2 million through DB Property agent Eric Lundberg who was seeking offers over $9.25 million for the landlord, Neil Burley.

The purchaser is the Karageorge family's Stasia Holdings.

The 1,308 square metre holding had been marketed with vacant possession as suitable for residential redevelopment with its B4 mixed use zoning.

It comes with 2,600 square metre space, plus car parking for 10 cars.

South Dowling Street is predominantly Victorian in character with some later Federation and Inter-War development.

Long known as Kings Cross landlords, the Karageorge family most recently spent $7.95 million on a Foveaux Street, Surry Hills office in late 2012.
