A working Paddington garage has been sold for $1.2 million. It sold to a neighbour.

The almost 100 year old building was once the fire station, complete with horses and water-laden carts.

Three generations of auto mechanics later took the reins, the Goodyer marketing advised.

The hillside 1a Ormond Street property has the potential to match the adjoining three and four-storey Paddington home.

There is a heritage listed 1917 facade.

It has a 5.8 metre wide by 12.6 metre deep footprint. Owner Les Rechnitzer was selling up after 17 years. The Paddington house price median sits at around sub-$1.6 million after a slight dip, according to CoreLogic RP Data.
