The United States-based hospitality group Delaware North has put Lizard Island Resort and Heron Island Resort set in Queensland's Great Barrier Reef up for sale.

It was in 2009 when Delaware North purchased the two luxury islands from the GPT Group.

It has since spent about $50 million on the upgrade of Lizard Island Resort.

JLL Hotels and Hospitality has been appointed to find the buyer for Delaware North, a private company controlled by the Jacobs family.

Earlier this year the Shanghai-based China Capital Investment Group paid about $30 million for former vitamin entrepreneur Vaughan Bullivant’s Daydream Island in the Whitsundays.
