The former Bank of New South Wales in Kyneton has been listed for sale.

Marketed as one of the most iconic buildings in country Victoria, the landmark building in the Macedon Ranges north of Melbourne currently operates as a boutique hotel, as well as an associated lifestyle and home-wares store known as 'Mollisons'.

It was built in the early 1900's by notable architects Godfrey and Spowers with an asymmetrical red brick facade, steep gables, terra-cotta tiled roof, tall chimneys and distinctive Art Nouveau lettering.

Listed architecturally of State Importance, the 680 sqm building is an early example of the Edwardian Free Style.

Fully restored, the property has over 25 rooms comprising nine bedrooms, seven with ensuites, and a two bedroom apartment.

There are a number of living areas and courtyards, as well as a two large which would suit a cafe, store, wine bar or restaurant, according to Circa Hiertage and Lifestyle South Melbourne agent Dominic Romeo, who has a guide of $3.65 million to $3.95 million.

Kyneton and the surrounding region has a strong tourism sector and sees around 1.67 million visitors annually.
