Collins Arch to feature Melbourne’s first W Hotel

Cbus Property will build a W Hotel in Melbourne as part of its $1 billion mixed-use precinct Collins Arch.

The hotel will be completed in 2020. W Melbourne will feature 294 rooms across 15 levels, 40 suites and cocktail bar, restaurant, day spa, pool, gym, conferencing and ballroom facilities.

Melbourne interior design practice Hachem are deisging the hotel’s interiors.

Architects Woods Bagot and New York practice SHoP architects, will also design a sky bridge that links the dual towers.

W Melbourne, Collins Arch will be in the eastern tower of the dual tower project, which will also feature WELL-rated commercial office space, retail, hospitality and luxury residential apartments.

Sean Hunt, area vice president Australia, New Zealand and Pacific, Marriott International said the hotel would shake up Melbourne with its bold design, signature amenities and full calendar of events showcasing what’s new and next in fashion, music and design.

"W Melbourne will offer the brand’s signature Whatever/Whenever service philosophy and vibrant programming to guests, which fits seamlessly with Melbourne’s offering as an international food, culture and lifestyle destination," he said.

The deal, brokered by Michael Simpson, managing director of Savills Australia and New Zealand, involved the sale of the hotel component of Collins Arch to Daisho Development Melbourne.

”This is a globally significant deal, bringing a world-class hotel brand to Melbourne’s most ambitious architectural project, set to be a world class destination for Melbourne visitors and locals alike,” he said.

Three global law firms King & Wood Mallesons, HWL Ebsworth and Gadens already confirmed as tenants in the office development.
