NSW Ballina's Lyston listed for $1.85 million
A period home in NSW's Ballina - once owned by members of the Taubman paint family - is up for sale for an asking price of $1.85 million.
Sitting at 92 Norton Street Ballina, Lyston was built in 1901, one of the prominent houses of the time.
A Federation gem, and timber clad inside and out, the home underwent a transformation at the hands of the Taubman family.
George Henry Taubman, a Sydney sign writer, started making his own paint around 1900 because he found the quality of paints available in Australia poor. The company grew into one of the household brands in Australia.
With a land size of nearly 1189 square metres, Lyston has three bedrooms.
It has views across a lake known as North Creek, to East Ballina, beaches and Missingham Bridge and the Richmond River mouth.
This luxury abode has soaring ceilings, elaborate fretwork, hoop pine floors, an elegant country-style timber kitchen and other traditional features.
The selling agent is Brett McDonald of Elders Real Estate.
