A Merrylands West auction secured a $1,455,000 million sale, setting a new suburb record.

The auction at 26 Cusack Street had five registered bidders with bids taken by auctioneer Scott Dalton.

The selling agent Hadi El-Azzi, of Ray White Merrylands, secured $140,000 higher than the suburb's prior record.

The five bedroom, six bathroom house, with study, is set on a 562 square metre block.

The family who bought the 20 year old home will upsize from a Merrylands duplex.
