Melbourne's top weekend auction sale was at 39-41 Mayfield Avenue, Malvern which sold through Marshall White at $5,675,000.

Just the two bidders, one of whom went next door to the garden block offering which sold soon after being passed in at $2.6 million.

So an $8.275 million plus deal for the house, garden and tennis court.

It had last sold in 2012 at $7.13 million.

It was past owners, the Williamson family who amalgamated the large property which James Buyer Advocates described as having a rare country estate feel.

Estate agent Bill Dane sold it in 2003 after 13 year ownership.
