Balwyn tops the sales as Melbourne clearance rate slips to 67%: REIV
A clearance rate of 67% was recorded over the weekend compared to 69% last weekend and 65% this weekend last year.
There were 1172 auctions reported to the REIV with 780 selling. The top sale was when 66 Gordon Street, Balwyn (above) fetched $4,880,000. It was last sold at $3.3 million in 2009 to Chinese buyers after being built in 2008 as a six bedroom, five bathroom home.
Next weekend is expected to be one of the highest on record, with around 1,750 auctions scheduled. The current record was set on October25-26 last year, when 1,682 auctions were held.
