Local Brisbane developer&nbsp;JGL Properties has completed its luxury Kangaroo Point apartment development, <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/buildings/thornton-11-thornton-street-kangaroo-point">Thornton</a>.

Recently delivered by&nbsp;<a href="https://www.urban.com.au/builders/hutchinson-builders">Hutchinson Builders</a>, Thornton is a 14-level residential building comprises just 16 full-floor, north-facing riverfront apartments at 11 Thornton Street, Kangaroo Point.

Simon Caulfield at Place Kangaroo Point secured the sell-out of all the apartments prior to completion.

Designed in a collaborative effort involving <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/architects/bureauproberts">Architect Liam Proberts</a>, chef and restaurateur Thierry Galichet, gallerist and curator Phillip Bacon AO and artist Ralph Wilson, Thornton's contemporary glass tower and interiors combine functionality with aesthetic appeal.

Each unit within Thornton is designed for optimal cross-flow ventilation, facilitated by operable edges, and a façade made from insulated glass panels.&nbsp;

The panels create a fluid exterior that provides both shelter and airflow to the interior, while a glass frit adds density and shade, echoing Brisbane’s traditional veranda design.

Thornton is located on the final riverside address at <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/developments/kangaroo-point-qld">Kangaroo Point</a>, offering 33 metres of direct Brisbane River and park frontage, where residents can enjoy panoramic views spanning from the Botanic Gardens, across the city skyline, to the Story Bridge.

<a href="https://www.urban.com.au/developers/alceon" target="_blank">Alceon</a> and development partner Core Property Partners have lodged plans with council for massive overhaul of the Tatts Group site in <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/developments/albion-qld" target="_blank">Albion</a> which includes a new 15-storey residential tower, 6-storey commercial tower and refurbishment of the existing brutalist 10-storey commercial building.

Designed by <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/architects/cox-architecture-0" target="_blank">Cox Architecture</a> and <a href="https://www.urban.com.au/architects/arkhefield" target="_blank">Arkhefield</a>, the proposal also includes a public plaza connecting the three buildings and almost 5,000 square metres of retail space which includes tenancies for a childcare centre and 1,500sqm supermarket.

As part of the application, the existing brutalist tower which has often been heralded as one of the city’s ugliest buildings, will receive a drastic renewal of the facade whilst the iconic side-cores are refurbished and maintained.

The residential tower features 77 dwellings across its 10 habitable floors, with a double height showroom fronting the corner of Sandgate Road and Gore Street, as well as a double-storey bistro tenancy. The building is capped off by a rooftop garden, pool and barbecue terrace offering city and river views.
